Successful Kick-off Meeting at the Institute of Oncology

Ljubljana, October 1, 2024 — The Institute of Oncology Ljubljana (IOLJ) hosted the kick-off meeting for ZAP Cancer, a newly launched EU-funded research project that aims to advance cancer research through international collaboration. The event brought together project partners and researchers to plan the strategy for project implementation and define the next steps.

The Kick-off meeting began with a welcome speech by IOLJ Research Director Prof. Maja Čemažar, followed by a presentation by Project Coordinator Dr. Boštjan Markelc, who gave an overview of the project. Next, the Project Management Board (PMB) was established, followed by the constitution of the project task forces for the preparation of the communication strategy, the data management plan and the Work Package Leaders Group. Finally, Alma Čerin presented the financial and reporting guidelines to ensure compliance by all partners. 

After a networking lunch, the day continued with the first workshop organized as part of the ZAP Cancer project. The day ended with a working lunch that strengthened the spirit of collaboration. The ZAP Cancer Consortium is off to a good start and is ready to tackle the most important challenges in cancer research through coordinated, cross-border efforts.
