ZAP Cancer Project Member Showcases Innovative Research at Knowledge for Growth Conference in Antwerp

On 8 May 2025, Nick Geukens from KU Leuven delivered a scientific presentation at the Knowledge for Growth life sciences conference held at the Flanders Meeting & Convention Center in Antwerp, Belgium. The event, one of Europe’s leading gatherings for biotech, pharma, medtech, and health innovation professionals, attracted researchers, industry leaders, and investors from across the continent.

The ZAP Cancer Project, coordinated by the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana and funded under the Horizon Europe programme, aims to advance cancer therapy by combining electrochemotherapy with gene electrotransfer of plasmid DNA encoding immune checkpoint inhibitors to enhance systemic anti-tumor immune responses.

At the conference, the project’s speaker shared recent progress and insights into the molecular and translational aspects of this innovative approach, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and future clinical impact within the European life sciences ecosystem.
